Your Checklist to a Better Life Starts Now

Less than 2 years ago I walked away from a successful business venture – a gym here in my home-town of Melbourne – because I realised that it was damaging my health, my body & my self-esteem.

I had poured my heart and soul into building that place but unfortunately after 2 years it was apparent that my business partners and I were going in two very different directions. Walking away was so hard. I was leaving behind security, safety, a lot of friends and what I thought was the future I had dreamed about and had been actively building.

At the time I didn’t realise this, but walking away was the best thing I could have ever done.

What I learnt from that experience – both being in a toxic business relationship, and walking away – was that I need to take better care of myself before giving away everything I have. What does this mean? It means that as a woman I have been socialised to “be nice” to “be polite” to “put others first”.

As a result, this was exactly what I did. I didn’t speak up when something didn’t sit right, I just hoped for the best by being as nice and polite as I could.

Fast forward to today and no I’m not a jerk (most of the time, anyway) but I do know how to take better care of myself. I do recognise how important trusting my instincts is, I do priorititise my health, nutrition and training, and I do only surround myself with people who are constructive to my growth & my soul.

This is what 24 hours to a Better Life is about. It’s about assessing where you are, setting boundaries and implementing steps to making your life immediately better.

You have the opportunity and the tools every single day, this is just your checklist. Don’t read this and think “oh I can’t because of A, B & C.” Read it and do it, or stop complaining. You always have a choice.
